The "Introducing" series are fantastic because they both summarize broadly and delve critically into whatever subject they are about, and most importantly are filled with fantastic cartoons that make for a completely interactive reading and absorbing process. I decided to pick up a copy of Introducing Sartre at my local library in Noe Valley as my first real book borrowed with my new library card.

This is, first and foremost, a brief biography of Sartre that skims over most of his works as a philosopher and focuses instead on his political activism and literary output. If you're mostly looking for an introduction to his particular branch of existentialism, don't bother with this one.

This was my both my first book on Jean-Paul Sartre and my first book from the Introducing Series and I really liked it! The book is set up like a graphic novel, but was still able to pack in a great deal of information about Sartre's life and his work.
